Why B&H Thrives

Many companies that have gone bust didn't die because of the recession. They failed for one reason: They treated customers poorly. That is not the case with B&H, on Ninth Avenue at 34th Street. The first thing you will notice? The place is humming. Full Story

To #3. Maybe if they took the camera back they would take a loss since the company can say its under warranty? Even big brother costco, stopped easy returns, a business has to make $! To #8 if B&H is so busy the salespeople probably can’t stay on the phone forever, besides what if your line was simply lost due to error? Especialy during sefira we must think twice before commenting in ways which can cause another yid a loss!

I beg to differ

the one experience I had with B&H was not good. I called customer service to inquire about a digital camera. It was for my daughter so I did not want to spend more than $100.00. When the price came up and I told him of my intentions, he did an about face, and was suddenly unhelpful, and after 10 seconds “put me on hold”. I heard the dial tone 30 seconds later. Suffice to say I did not call back, and will never buy from them

my brother works there!!!

anyways may all the Yiden have enough Parnasa that they could help the Rebbe;s shluchim as well

Their employees are not paid by commision. Therefore they dont care to sell you the cheaper product. Otherwise, I know they employ many people in our community. Also I heard, when an employee becomes ill, the owner really helps out.

#2 – their customer base may not have dropped that much, but they’ve had to reduce profit margins. So they may be selling nearly as much stuff, but are not making as much money on it. hence, not as much money to pay people with…

not in agreement

we recently bought a video camcorder there with extended warranty, when it malfunctioned they refused to stand behind it and claimed we need to go to the warranty repair, which was a real pain, because they were rude and wanted to charge us for repair almost as much as the camera was worth. B&H had no one interested in helping out. we will def. not be buying there again..i wonder if circuit city would have treated their costumers that way!

Hmm...

I have heard otherwise, that B&H either has or intends to lay off quite a bit of employees, because their customer base has dropped dramatically in the last year. (It’s not their fault, people are simply not spending that kind of money.)

But I would be more than happy to be proven wrong, as the owner is an erliche yid, and employs over 1,000 yidden.

Amazing kiddush hashem

That’s an amazing kiddush hashem. Unfortunately I know of some another mainstream store run by “Hassidim” which is the opposite and many of my non-Jewish acquaintances are shocked by it.
