Rabbi Immanuel Storfer, Mashpia in Beis Medrash Chovevei Torah in Crown Heights, will serve as the Director for the Ivy League Torah Study Boy’s Program 5769 under the guidance of Rabbi Levi Kaplan.
The ILTSE, a project of NCFJE, is a summer program located in Upstate New York, and open to undergraduate and graduate students who have minimal or no background in Torah learning.
Storfer will be joined by Rabbi Velvel Lipsker, Mashpia at the Rabbinical College of Greater Miami and Rabbi Fishel Oster, Maggid shiur in Beis Medrash Oholei Torah.
In addition, students will experience special lectures from returning faculty members such as Rabbi Dr. Immanuel Schochet, Rabbi Dr. Alter Metzger and many more.
The 5 week program aims to give students the necessary skills for learning Torah and an appreciation of Judaism. Each student receives full room and board and may qualify for a fellowship of up to $2,000.
Space is filling soon for the boys and girls programs which begin June 18, and June 22 respectively. Applications can be downloaded at www.iltse.com. For more information please call Rabbi Storfer at 347-244-4286.
The ILTSP appears to making steps in the right direction. With a long-sighted directive hand, proper recruiting drives directed at bright students, retention of accessible staff, strong funding and some luck, it may yet become an even more positive force in our world.
