An evening of learning and inspiration took place Sunday at Mayan Yisroel, a center for Torah and prayer for the Flatbush Jewish community, located on Avenue N and E. 34th Street in Brooklyn, NY.
The night was dedicated to the teachings of Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, the first Chabad Rebbe and author of the Tanya and Shulchan Aruch.
Mayan Yisroel Director Rabbi Yosef Vigler began with explaining that the Tanya, which can be called “The Anatomy of the Soul,” is a blueprint of the Jewish individual’s soul.
“It speaks about a person’s day-to-day life and who the person is. No need for psychologists, when you have such a book as the Tanya,” he said. “Any thought you have regarding your daily life is already answered by the Alter Rebbe in the book of Tanya.”
The guest speaker was Rabbi DovBer Pinson, Director of IYYUN Center in Brownstone Brooklyn who is a known author and Kabbalist.
Throughout the night, he shared many stories about The Alter Rebbe and other rebbeim. He also explained many deep elements and concepts of Chassidus to the large Mayan Yisroel crowd that attended this farbrengen.
Not long after 10:00 PM, approximate time of the Alter Rebbe’s passing, the crowd started a seder of The Alter Rebbe’s well-known niggunim, including Daled Bavos, sung only on special occasions.
On the tables were laying copies of Lessons in Tanya, which Rabbi Vigler regularly learns together with the congregation, and continues to do so.
Awesome pictures!
Especially second to the last photo of Rabbi Pinson!
Incredible.
I heard from a few friends of mine who were there, that it was an amazing night, such deep torah from Rav Pinson, singing, inspiration. My friends walked away truly inspired and enlightened.
He and his eshes chayil are truly an inspiration and am so glad that Rav Vigler recognizes such talent and utilizes it.
He’s simply so great!
Once again Rabbi Vigler and Mayan Yisroel continue to bring the best speakers in the world to their shul!
Yasher Koach Rabbi Vigler for putting this together, and the tremendous work that you put into Mayan Yisroel.
