Hundreds of residents of Crown Heights attended lectures and discussions about the teachings of the Alter Rebbe, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, on the day of his 200th yartzeit this Sunday.
Young and old men enjoyed the “day of study” organized by Merkas Anash and held in the Chovevei Torah hall, using the day off from work to learn and grow.
A line-up of scholars who immerse themselves in the teachings of the founder of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement were featured throughout the day, sharing insight and giving inspiration.
The first was Rabbi Yoel Kahn, the choizer of the Rebbe and Mashpia of 770, who reviewed a talk from the Rebbe that explains the meaning behind the names of the Alter Rebbe.
Following Shachris and breakfast, a panel was held with Rabbis Eliyahu Matusof, Yonosan Dovid Reinitz and Nachum Greenwald who all have spent decades learning and explaining the chassidic discourses of the Alter Rebbe.
Addressing the Alter Rebbe’s work on the Jewish law, Shulchan Aruch, were Jerusalem posek Rabbi Yekusiel Farkash and Chabad librarian and author Rabbi Berel Levin.
After a lunch break, an interesting discussion about living life according to the Tanya was held between Rabbi Nosson Gurary of Buffalo and Mashpia Rabbi Pinchos Korf.
The final lecture was given by Rabbi Gedalya Oberlander who often writes and researches Chassidus history and philosophy.
The emcee and organizer R’ Shmuel Pewsner thanked R’ Shimon Hellinger and R’ Eli Simon, as well as OK Labs and Yagdil Torah.
I think SimchaLive will be producing a video of the event and speeches. It will probably be sold by the anash learning group.
