Last week the organizers of The Great Lag B’Omer Parade hosted an appreciation lunch at Chagall Bistro in Park Slope to honor the NYPD and staff who helped organize the well-run event which hosted thousands gathered on Eastern Parkway to celebrate the holiday of Lag B’Omer.
Rabbi Shimon Hecht emceed the program, and thanked the Police for their cooperation and for ensuring everything ran smoothly and safely, especially Deputy Inspector John Lewis and Detective Vincent Martinos from the 71st precinct, and Sergeant Ira Jablonsky and Detective Tom Nihill from Brooklyn South. Levi Weingarten shared a Dvar Torah.
Rabbi Shea Hecht then presented awards to Detective Martinos for the many hours he put in organizing and coordinating things from the NYPD’s end, and to Deputy Inspector Lewis for his support.
Awards were also presented to the coordinators and staff of the Parade, including Shimon Sabol, Levi Mentz, Mendy Lashkar and Levi Weingarten.
