On Tuesday night, 8th of Teves, the Yeshivah L’Smicha of Miami celebrated the graduation of seven students.
The Smicha represents the culmination of four years of serious diligence in Torah learning. The students studied the topics including Bassar BeChalav, Hichos Shabbos, Tefillah, Yichud and Seder Birchos HaNehenin and were tested annually and then retested on all of the material at a final exam.
The event was attended by a large crowd of family and friends as well as by several local Rabbonim. Rabbi Eli Wolf, Rov of Highland Lakes Shul, spoke of the importance of focusing on Torah study without distraction.
Rabbi Aryeh Citron, Rosh Yeshivah of Yeshivah LeSmicha, spoke about the need to toil in Torah and the advantage of having a structured learning program. The graduates described how the learning changed their perspectives’ and the positive impact it has had on their lives.
In addition they recognized the tremendous opportunity afforded by the Yeshiva L’smicha, to fulfill the Rebbe’s instruction that all men should study for Smicha so that there be a Rav in the home. Rav Wosner of Monsey, Rav Hamasmich, was unable to attend but sent his wishes that the students review and continue their studies and be amongst those who bring merit to the community.
The Yeshivah LeSmicha begins its next course on this coming Monday night (January 5th/ Teves 14) – and is welcomes students of diverse backgrounds and ages.
