Nearly two hundred women gathered in the Machon Chana dormitory to mark the end of the Shloshim of Mrs. Gita Gansburg obm.
Family members, Machon Chana alumnae, community members and friends of Mrs. Gansburg listened attentively for two hours as speaker after speaker shared stories, pearls of deep wisdom, and practical guidance from this one-of-a-kind woman.
The speakers were Rabbi Shlomo Majeski, Mrs. Gansburg’s grandson Rabbi Mendy Chanin, Mrs. Gansburg’s nieces Mrs. Shaindy Jacobson and Mrs. Sara Lieberman, alumnae Mrs. Shimona Tzukernik and Mrs. Adina Adrei, and current student miss Tanya Cretu.
Mrs. Nechama Chanin launched the Rabbi and Mrs. Gansburg Dorm Parents fund. Donations to the fund, which will be used to benefit the students in the Machon Chana dormitory can be made via paypal at machonchana@yahoo.com or mailed to Machon Chana, 383 Kingston Avenue #206, Brooklyn, NY 11213.
A video with quotes from women in the community who worked together with Mrs. Gansburg including Mrs. Yehudis Groner and Mrs. Chana Gorovitz, as well as alumnae’s quotes and photos of Mrs. Gansburg throughout the years was played.
At the urging of the alumnae, it was decided that a monthly global gathering would take place either via conference call as was the global gathering during Mrs. Gansburg’s shiva, or a live feed as were the end of shiv and end of shloshim gatherings. The next global gathering will take place on Ches Shevat and will be a preparation for Yud shevat.
All alumnae who have not yet sent in their contact information are asked to please email us at machonchanainfo@gmail.com to receive information about future alumnae events and how we can all partner together to continue Mrs. Gansburg’s important work.
Shloshim gatherings also took place in Haifa, Jerusalem, Mevasseret Tzion, Rechovot, Costa Rica, Rio De Jenero, Beunos Aires, Melbourne, Johannesburg, Munich, Toronto, Montreal, Las Vegas, Granada Hill, Los Angeles, North Miami Beach, Baltimore, Chicago, Pittsburgh.

I just want to take a moment to thank all the Machon Chana staff for helping us all cope with this tragedy. For one night, we all felt like we had come home again.
