From the minute Simchas Torah finished, the students at Beis Yaakov Ohel Sarah, were counting down the days for the school’s annual Chanukah party.
Over a week before Chanukah, the event was sold out, with the phone ringing off the hook, from parents hoping for more tickets becoming available.
On the 2nd night of Chanukah, the school auditorium was filled to capacity, with excited children and parents. Students and their families were greeted by the beautifully decorated hall, and the gorgeous food display, offering a scrumptious variety of Milchig foods.
Children were put into a festive mood by a creative face painter, amazed by a balloon artist, treated to the sweetest cotton candy, and wow’ed by a special bubble show. Headlining the evenings entreatment, was a super talented Magician, who left us with our mouths wide open.
The most inspiring moment of the evening, was when Shliach Rabbi Mendelsohn stood up and lit the Menorah. Sharing with the crowd words of Chizuk, he led the crowd in a beautiful rendition of Haneiros Halolu.
After some raffles and the distribution of the many Chanukah presents, students and families alike, returned home, with memories that they will cherish for life. A 4th grade student, Rebecca, was heard saying, “this is not just my school Chanukah party, this is my family Chanukah party.”

My children are getting the best education at Bais Yaakov Ohel Sarah. The teachers and staff are so in-tune to to each and every student. The party was so much fun and not only for my BYOS children but for the rest of them as well. I recommend this school for anyone who wants their children to get a great education as well as a solid and firm yideshe foundation!!!
