Tuscanini presents: Tasting Italy; A Culinary Tour of Italia
In the debut episode of Tuscanini Food’s 7-part docuseries, Tasting Italy, viewers are transported on a culinary odyssey through the vibrant alleyways of ancient and modern Rome.
Guided by the delightful Sara Pavoncello from @romakoshertours, whose infectious enthusiasm shines through, audiences are treated to a sensory feast of historical anecdotes and authentic gastronomic delights.
As we wander through the labyrinthine of streets, we are regaled with tales from the time of the Papal Ghetto decrees to the present day, where the youth linger around the aromatic eateries under the watchful eyes of the yenta nonnas. With a deft blend of charm and wit, Sara navigates us through the bustling kosher food courts, skipping lines and cautioning against misnaming beloved dishes (“Don’teh you dareh calleh this focaccia becauseh iteh is not focaccia”), all while braving the cacophony of flavors of an animated culture.
Though some of the dishes may challenge the conventional palate, we observe Chef Gaetano Arnone’s passion—albeit unflashy—present a very authentic portrayal of the culinary jewels of Rome, a breath of fresh air within the saturated world of cooked-to-perfection food shows.
Watch and enjoy “The Flavors of the Roman-Jewish Ghetto.” It is not just a culinary tour; it’s a celebration of culture, history, and the persevering spirit of Rome’s Jewish heritage and diverse communities.
