Mussie found it so awkward when a shadchan reached out weeks after her engagement with shidduch suggestion. She wished there was a way to take back her shidduch profile from all the WhatsApp groups and shadchanim it had been shared to.
Dov was 23 when he was ready to get into shidduchim. His married friends said he needed a shidduch resume. But what to write? As the oldest in his family, his parents weren’t sure what was standard information to include. Some resumes he’d seen had a lot of information, others had very little. After months of going back and forth, he finally got his first resume together. Would it make the right first impression? Looking back, he wishes it could have been easier.
Meir’s first resume was written when he was 19. In the years since, so much has changed in his life… employment, location, close friends…. But that first resume still keeps coming up when his name comes up. If he knew who he’d grow into back then, he would have never written that first resume the way he did. But now…
There’s got to be a better way.

Ever found yourself hunting through a cluttered WhatsApp chat history for that elusive shidduch resume someone sent you ages ago? Or maybe you’ve cringed at the sight of a typo on your already widely circulated shidduch resume? Perhaps you’ve wished you could swap out your shidduch profile picture for a better, more up-to-date one?
These common frustrations led a group of innovative young Chabad entrepreneurs and web developers to rethink the shidduch resume.
Enter ShidduchDoc, a dynamic solution born out of extensive research and multiple beta testing rounds. This platform empowers singles to create, modify, or delete their digital shidduch resume at any point, giving them complete control over their dating profiles.
Rabbi Yosef Braun, Rov of the Bais Din of Crown Heights, said of the platform, “It’s great to see a solution that helps families and singles in shidduchim take so much care to protect privacy and tzniyus.”
The developers sought input from numerous shadchanim and singles, pinpointing three key challenges: the lack of design instructions, the hassle of copying over phone numbers, and the inability to edit or update a distributed resume.
ShidduchDoc is not a public database. Instead, it helps you design your resume and share it directly with the people you want to view it. It’s very similar to a PDF or Google Doc, but designed with more elegance, specifically for the shidduch process.
Here’s the magic of ShidduchDoc: it’s customizable, user-friendly, and visually appealing. It makes the creation of shidduch resumes a breeze for singles and easier for Shadchanim to process.
“B”H I’ve been getting more and more ShidduchDoc resumes lately and it’s just so much easier to work with,” says Shaina Katz, a shadchan from Crown Heights.
ShidduchDoc’s innovative features include:
Customizable Template: This Chabad-community-specific template guides you on what information to include. Irrelevant sections can be effortlessly removed.
Clickable Phone Numbers: Say goodbye to memorizing or scribbling down reference’s phone numbers from a PDF. Simply click to call.
WhatsApp Searchability: Save time searching through countless PDFs. Just type the name in your Whatsapp search bar to find their ShidduchDoc.
Scrollable Pictures: Upload multiple pictures and easily flip through them in a digital album. Update them at any time.
User Control: Edit or delete your ShidduchDoc at any time, and everyone with access to your doc will see the updates in real time.
Privacy: A PDF may be shared on any chat without your permission. With ShidduchDoc you can delete, lock, update, or even edit no matter where it’s been shared to.
Feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive. Users appreciate the uniform structure, pleasing aesthetics, and the ease of updating their resumes. So far 4 of the singles who were a part of ShidduchDocs beta test, B”H have gotten married while using their ShidduchDoc.
“I’m a fan,” says Chanie Lebovics, a shadchan from Florida. “I like how ShidduchDoc has a uniform structure, so I can scan it quickly and know where different pieces of information can be found. It’s also very pleasant on the eyes. Young singles tend to overthink their resume, so this takes away the stress—they can update it at any time.”
ShidduchDoc has become the secret weapon for many in navigating the shidduch process with tranquility and confidence.
ShidduchDoc is a heartfelt project by those who believe in the shidduch system and who are passionate about enhancing the experience for everyone involved. This service is offered with a commitment to stay forever free of charge.
“ShidduchDoc is exactly what we need to simplify the shidduch resume parsha,” says Rochel Kaplan, a shadchan from Montreal. “After using it for the first time I asked myself ‘Why didn’t I think of this sooner?’”

Its JUST a platform for your RESUME that you can make, update or delete it but it wont be sent to shatchanim, for that you have to send them the link of this doc/resume yourself?
That is correct
Someone said they have future plans where the singles will be able to choose to have it seen by Shadchanim or something like that
This is the coolest thing!
Good people doing good things 🍻
This is amazing!!!!!! So needed!!
I have been using ShidduchDoc for the past few months as an early beta user and I really appreciate it so much!
Has completely removed the PRESSURE for “releasing” updated PDF pictures or resume edits to my resume.
BIG YESHER KOACH!
Thank you ShidduchDoc Team!
Correct. Its just a tool assist in the creation of an aesthetically pleasing resume and one that thecreator is in full control of even after they’ve shared it. There is no database that it is viewable on. To see a resume, someone needs to send it to you.
Yes! This is so needed and so exciting!!!🙌🙌
This is brilliant!!
Really going to change the shidduch system for the positive!
Game changerrrrr
Will need to know about every person that’s looking into them?
This app is the new hype and very much needed. Thanks! Can’t wait for more people to get on this :))
I use shidduch doc and it’s the best thing I ever did! I feel like I actually have control of what is being sent around and any updates I make I know no one has my old info anymore
Honestly this solves a lot of issues I’ve been having lately with outdated resumes. (specifically old references)
Kol hakavod!
I made my resume using shiduch doc and it was the actual best choice ever! After I made my resume I was able to still change my photo ( and if I wanted to my references!). When I was dating I locked my resume, and once I got engaged I deleted it!
Such a simple concept, super necessary. What took so long for them to come up with a smart pdf like this.
This is great. The resume situation needed to change. Enough with being stuck with references that need to be changed, pictures that need to be updated, resumes that out no longer needed. Shkoiach our community really needed something like this!
This is so incredible! Love when people take initiative and help smoothen the shidduch process
What we have been all waiting for! This is much needed thank you!!
This is so needed.
The best app ever made !
Very good idea
Also a template is very useful
Kol HaKavod!
YOSHER KOYACH!! This is the epitome of using the mundane for kedusha and elevating technology for a positive impact! So amazing!
Great App Support for Hebrew please
Love this idea! No more need to keep resending my resume to everyone every time I update it!
This looks wonderful – is this just a chessed or is there some way they make money (or even just cover the web/app development costs)? It says on the website that it’s free forever to use.
They promised to never monetize it. If costs exceed what the original donors are willing to cover they will fundraise or ask users to for voluntary donations to cover upkeep costs.
Just wondering why you can’t just send a link to a Google Docs? You can update as needed, lock it, and delete it. Would accomplish the exact same thing as this app.
It’s similar but not quite the same. You wouldn’t have the the template and design. It also isn’t optimized for Whatsapp preview and you couldn’t just search names on Whatsapp to find the resumes. Lastly, numbers wouldn’t be clickable to call references on your phone. That sounds small but it really does make a difference.
Thank you for creating this!
Great job to whoever put this together
I’m newly married but I remember how annoying resumes were. Great job who ever put this together
Awesome!! Incredible to make this happen!! Lechaim to many Shidduchim soon bzh!
where is all the info stored? Who has it? Is it google?
The info is stored using AWS (Amazon servers). They are very secure and only accessible by the account holder.
WhatsApp Searchability: Save time searching through countless PDFs. Just type the name in your Whatsapp search bar to find their ShidduchDoc.
what does this mean? What is whatsapp searchability??
User Control: Edit or delete your ShidduchDoc at any time, and everyone with access to your doc will see the updates in real time.
So does all info get completely deleted permanently then?
WhatsApp search-ability:
Just like you can search WhatsApp for a particular message you’ve received. You can also type in the name of a resume sent to you and it will come up just like a regular message you’ve received.
User Control:
Yes, if you delete a resume it will delete it by anyone you have sent it too. Permanently.
will their resume not show up on other peoples’ whatsapps? is the data at all stored within whatsapp like is this an app inside whatsapp or associated with whatsapp
This is so smart!! Love when people care to improve and innovate <3
Can’t someone just screenshot a resume and share it around?
Next step is to abolish resumes altogether. Amen.
