The Mesivta of Moscow, a school for children from throughout Russia who want to learn more about their Jewish heritage, celebrated a grand Bar Mitzvah for students turning 13 this year.
Each of the 11 children received an Aliya to the Torah at a grand celebration at the main Shul of the Marina Roscha Synagogue.
The event was attended by the entire community, the parents of the boys, and was honored with the participation of Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar.
Each of the Bar Mitzvah boys prepared a part of the program for the Bar Mitzvah; one recited the traditional maamer in Russian, another recited a Sicha of the Rebbe, and one spoke about the halachos of Tefllin.
Each Bar Mitzvah boy received a set of his own Tefillin as a gift. They will each be given a photo album as well, as a memento of the special day of his Bar Mitzvah.
