8 Jewish students from the Lauder Business School in Vienna, Austria, have been enjoying Jewish learning at the Rabbinical College of America in Morristown, NJ, for the past several weeks.
This is the second time a visiting group from the Vienna school is coming to study in the Morristown Yeshiva.
Shliach Rabbi Boruch Sabbach, who runs the Chabad at the Lauder Business School, coordinated with a Vienna sponsor, Rabbi Zalman Schurder of Chabad on Campus International and the RCA, to make this into a reality.
For many of the students, this was their first encounter with a Yeshiva, and for each of them, it has been perhaps the greatest Jewish experience they’ve ever had.
“The welcoming atmosphere that the Rabbis and students created made the teachings into part of our lives,” says Shimmy Zinger, originally from Moldova. “I really liked the complete Shabbat and all the Kosher food.”
The group enjoyed a lively visit to Crown Heights, a Chassidic wedding, and prayer at the Rebbe’s Ohel and were thrilled to find New York bustling with Jewish life.
“The only place I have seen anything like this has been in Israel,” commented Gideon Pomeranz.
Rabbi Moshe Herson, Dean of Rabbinical College of America, extended a warm welcome to the European visitors, and spent time with them, sharing words of inspiration.
Rabbi Herson also arranged for a special visit with RCA Board member, Mr. David Halpern, in his office. Mr. Halpern engaged the students in a lively conversation, exploring their feelings and aspirations with regard to education, business, and Israel and inspiring them with a strong sense of Jewish identity.
Keep on rocking Morristown!
