Rabbi Zevi Silver of Mequon WI, a young husband and father of 4, passed away on Friday afternoon.
He was 31 and suffered from a terrible illness.
Even during his battle, Zevi’s focus was not on himself, but rather on others.
In recent months a Mezuzah campaign was launched in honor of Zevi’s recovery by Chabad of Mequon, WI.
Most recently, despite his own illness, Zevi spearheaded a blood drive in appreciation to those who had donated blood that saved his life during one of his many surgeries.
He is survived by his wife, Shani (nee Maiman) and children: Chaiky, Sruly, Mendy and Sury.
He is also survived by his parents, Avremel and Hindy Silver of Crown Heights and siblings Mrs. Chaya Ehrenreich – Chestnut Ridge, NY, R’ Moshe Silver – Crown Heights, R’ Yitzy Silver – Crown Heights, Mrs. Rochi Galperin – Holmdel, NJ, Rabbi Shimmi Silver, Brighton Beach, NY, R’ Shloime Silver – Crown Heights, Mrs. Mussie Galperin – Crown Heights and Breindy Silver – Crown Heights.

B”H Dear Family Silver, We were so upset to hear about Zevi. Although we hadn’t seen him for about 12 years – he was a ben bayis in our home when he learned in Yeshiva in Manchester, we have many fond memories of when he would come in on a Thursday night and help make challa together with his cousins Moishe and Mendy Brennan and of course eating with us for Shabbos. He was always so cheerful and positive in his hashkofos. Distance makes a personal visit difficult at this time so please accept this letter as a rather inadequate… Read more »

OY ZEVY, we sat nights together in Miami where you were a shliach and rejoziced with you every day that passed that you were healthy. How happy ia was when you got married. Every day since you entered Sloan Kettering I prayed for you, hoping and begging for a complete recovery. Zevi was a dear friend and a precious neshama, always positive and always with a smile. May Hashem comfort Rabbi Silver, family and all of us with the Geulah Shleima.
When visiting mequon a few years ago I was amazed to see how despite the suffering zevi was going through he always had a smile and seemed to be very positive and made a big effort to live life normally and to the fullest. I didn’t know him but he left a tremendous impression on me as a real fighter and an incredible human being. It pains me to hear the shocking news, I’m sure that I’m not the only person he has affected not even knowingly. Hashem should comfort his family for he was an amazing neshama. May we… Read more »
