I grew up in a small suburb; we had one shul and everyone knew each other.
Moving to a huge city, as a young adult, with an ocean of Jews and not really having a core group of people or place where I could just show up and feel wanted and welcome was challenging. I quickly realized that in New York, you don’t just show up at shul and have friends. You have to patiently and diligently build your community on your own, person by person. When I heard about the Soul House from a friend I was excited to give it try. The Soul House was and is everything I was seeking in a shul. A warm friendly place, where people smile at your when you walk in – not matter how late it is- and set up a chair for you because the room is likely filled to capacity but there’s always room for one more.
Another aspect of the Soul House I deeply appreciate is that all the events and Shabbat gatherings are always created with so much beauty and attention to detail. There is a saying about the Bais Hamikdash that it was the most beautiful structure of all time and when our physical space is beautiful it serves as a gateway for us to serve Hashem. Because prayer replaces karbanot-sacrifices, our modern day shuls essentially are mini-versions of the Bais Hamikdash- placeholders until moshiach comes; and some mefarshim even say that when Moshiach comes all of our souls will be transported to Yerushalayim. The Should House is a beautiful space physically- it is often adorned with fresh flowers and soothing lighting, and of equal if not greater importance it is a beautiful space spiritually. Entering the Soul House often feels divine, it is like stepping into Moshiach energy- a place where everyone only sees the good and potential in one another. The Soul House is truly a space where judgement is left at the door and Ahavat Yisroel is the focus.
Individuality is encouraged at the Soul House, you don’t need to meet certain requirements to feel welcome and step into a space that invites it’s members to consider and deepen their relationship with Hashem. If you are seeking space where your whole self can and will be embraced please join the long roster of events at the Soul House- you’ll be glad you did. Come as you are.

PARTICIPATE DON’T HESITATE!
Coming from a Chabad House myself, and moving to the big city, I always found shabbos hard. I had nowhere to go to feel welcome, wanted and comfortable.
And then I was introduced to the Soul House where it literally feels like home!
Definitely a cause worth contributing towards!
Soul House is the first place in Crown Heights I ever felt like the community really wanted to take care of us in a way I haven’t felt before. The Engelsons did that!!! Bringing Moshiach through the inside
I was actually skeptical about this place so I went to check it out and it was very interesting that such a place exists in CH. Very warm, young crowd, lots going on, not very typical at all.
Please help support this amazing cause!
The real soul of Chabad is at Eli and Myriam’s Soul house Shul!
Eli and his wife Myriam are amazing they welcome everyone with kindness in to there home 🏡
Thank you so much to Rabbi Eli and Myriam! They create an amazing space where yiddishkeit is delivered to young adult Jews who so desperately yearn for it.
The Soul House is a shul and community in crown heights where I feel at home, accepted, and inspired. All the things Chabad is so famous for around the world, the Soul House does here, for people from Chabad homes like me. I’m so grateful for this organisation, if you want to join me in supporting them you can here https://www.charidy.com/Soul
Such a warm and and inviting place, especially Mincha time on Shabbes.
A great place for your Maaser 🙂
In every aspect Myriam and Eli care so much to take every event and make every detail beautiful, if that means using real dishes to serve food if that means getting flowers for the tables if that means putting out nice table cloths or if that means the lights they use, every detail is thought through, and is felt when you walk in and take in all the beauty
And that’s just on a physical level but trust me that’s just the beginning
The crowd is always changing. It is one of those places that you need to see it, to truly get how special it is.
It is a unique chabad house full of Torah, honesty, authenticity, and fun!
It must be a great place indeed. How does one find it? Is there an address? A phone number? Any sort of contact information? A secret password or handshake to get in?
🙂
