A new breakthrough internet filter by Venishmartem will be unveiled Sunday, May 12, at a Flatbush event where more than 20 technicians will be available to install the filters for free.
Sponsored by Brooklyn askanim, Eli Schindler and Avi Schron, the event will be held in a giant tent in front of Landau’s shul on Avenue L and E. 9th.
The “Filter-thon” will offer a program that has already enabled thousands of Yidden to easily have their computer, smartphone and tablet protected from the ‘shmutz’ readily available online.
Dovid Hecht, a computer technician who volunteers for Venishmartem’s filtering programs, said that as careful as a yungerman may be, the dangers that are latent in computers and smartphones are omnipresent.
“As technology keeps evolving and progressing, so do the dangers that come with it,” he said and noted that if people think that they are immune from the ‘darker side’ of technology, other family members may unwittingly fall prey.
“It’s just too easy for a child playing with a parent’s old phone to connect to any Wi-Fi network and get complete unfiltered access,” he said. “Merely typing the wrong address can somehow end up opening the worst possible sites. The least we can do is protect ourselves and our families from these mistakes.”
FILTER ON CLOUD
About two dozen experienced technicians will be available at the tent all day Sunday, from 8am to 11pm, to help with installing filters and guiding users on the best plans for filtering.
The new filter, called the Venishmartem Cloud Filter, (or VCF), was invented by the founder of Jnet, a Jewish Internet service provider who has recently sold it and invested $6 million to develop VCF, a filter that would act smartly.
VCF filters can even discern harmful pictures or videos on a single webpage, its developers say. It then allows access to the page, while blocking any inappropriate parts. This makes it possible for the first time to actually enable access to YouTube or Facebook, while disabling any unwanted pictures or videos.
“Gone are the days when you’ll find yourself turning the filter on and off depending on your mood,” a VCF brochure says. “You also won’t have the option to instantly remove the filter during a weak moment. Removing VCF requires the assistance of our customer support, and takes a least 24 hours.”
The password lies with the VCF team and since the filter blocks at the cloud level, it is impossible to uninstall or circumvent. They also have levels of protection for different users. Parents can access the sites they needs for work and home management, while teenagers visit sites for school projects and kosher entertainment.
Users do not have to change Internet Services Providers since VCF works with any ISP. Thousands of CD’s are ready for distribution Sunday for instant setup and a clear guide for the filter. The service costs $4.99 a month ($7.99 for the Pro version) but is free for those who cannot afford it.
Venishmartem staff, which have serviced and assisted many hundreds to install filtering solutions for their devices, will be available Sunday to answer all questions. While it is for men only, anyone can call 718-GET-HELP.

You are right. It is free for those who can’t afford it.
But it says free for those who can’t afford it
This article makes it sound like the filter is free, but if you read carefully – only the technicians will be installing the filter for free. The filter itself costs $7.99/month, which is well worth it – but still not free.
I love it. How can ppl overseas get it installed on their kids phones
