While their students get ready for the new school year, United Lubavitcher Yeshiva boys school in Crown Heights is preparing their building for another great year.
Among the notable renovations is the roof, which will now also include a children’s playground on rubber padded floors and new basketball hoops. Other renovations include the small Simcha hall.
With polished floors and hallways freshly painted, the Yeshiva is sparkling and shining, as it eagerly awaits greeting the familiar smiling faces of the Talmidim.
Menahel Rabbi Y. Simpson notes, “The Rebbe teaches that one of the important elements which are vital to the Talmid’s experience in the Yeshiva, is ensuring that the physical environment should be one which provides Harchavas Hada’as and is conducive to learning.”
All the renovations are scheduled to be completed before the onset of the new year.
Rabbi Simpson quoted a sicha from the Rebbe said of Shabbos Parshas Shoftim 5741 as an inspiration for the upgrades in the school:
“Regarding a Chinuch institution, it has to be a nice building etc., also in outer beauty. For this too complements the Torah learning there, as Raza”l teach that one of the three things which broaden one’s mind (Harchavas HaDa’as) is a nice dwelling place… We can understand the great necessity of a nice building for Chinuch institutions, which will aid and add to the Torah study of the Talmidim.”
What a good idea for uly and for all our Mosdos who need space
Rooftops are our most underused space option and I’m sure other mosdos will follow
Good idea and thank you

I was happy to read that Rabbi Simpson was quoted expressing the importance of physical activity. When I was on the PTA committee and we wanted to hire a gym teacher for EVERY class, he told us it wouldn’t work due to lack of space and he couldn’t have gym… Read more »
