Surprise at Tefillin Booth

A group of Anash who do mivtzoim every week in Montreal met a youngster this past Friday whom they asked if he was Jewish. It was soon clear that he was a 'Karkafta' - an Aramaic term for a Jew who hasn't ever donned Tefillin. The Lubavitchers were quick to make him a Bar Mitzvah and toasted a L'Chaim before they danced. and put on tefillin on 10 others like every week. Three weeks ago I put on tefillin for the first time on three college students from Virginia passing through Israel in an hour. I used to live fancy on Melrose in Hollywood ,Ca and grew up in a huge house with a private yacht on a lagoon near SF.Yet I don’t have enough food or shoes without holes and live in a stinking ghetto, yet I am happy. Why? Because I’m Jewish and Chabad who had the merit to see the Rebbe’s eyes.
