“This might have been the best concert I’ve ever been to,” said Brian Krieger, 41, a long-time supporter of Chabad and now a lifetime fan of 8th Day.
Krieger was one of hundreds who gathered last night at the Jewish Community Center of Redondo Beach to hear the Marcus brothers and their ever popular band 8th Day.
In perhaps one of the nicest Chabad Houses in California, the crowd was treated to a musical delight that featured all of the classic 8th Day hits like Tracht Gut and Bobbenyu, as well as some new material from their upcoming album.
“I’ve heard them before but I think they have really come into their own now,” commented Lisa Shulman. “I left last night with an overwhelming feeling of joy.”
Brothers Shmuel and Bentzy Marcus who formed 8th Day, were joined last night by their drummer Rosey Sanchez, sax/clarinet player Leo Chelyapov, bassist Dana Decker and special guest younger brother Eli Marcus, on backup vocals and percussion.
“It was the first time I’d heard them and I was absolutely blown away,” said Patrick Azria a musician from Paris, France. “I was not expecting a Rabbi and his brother to be able to move me like that.”
How about a consistent flow of CDs, new songs…? I luv ’em but they’re too sporadic. Maybe they need a silent partner. Anyone?
I was at the show. Came late. But seems they have created a new show. Nothing like they’ve been doing in the past. Very good for non-frum groups.
