Over 300 members of the Chabad Markham community braved the weather to participate in the once in 28 year event.
After davening and a siyum Wednesday the crowd made their way outdoors with great anticipation to perform this historic Mitzvah.
Although there was a slight disappointment with the sun hiding behind the clouds, this was very much compensated for by the great joy and enthusiasm of all those who attended the event.
The blessings service was led by Rabbi Avraham Plotkin who told the crowd never to lose faith in Hashem, Hashem will not let us down, the sun will surely come out.
Miraculously the sun did appear an hour later with ample time for the entire community to make the Brocha.
The Alter Rebbe’s niggun and Reb Levi Yitzchok’s niggun were sung by all the assembled, spontanous dancing followed. The community was then treated to their last chometz breakfast. Hot steaming waffles with all the toppings “under the sun” was enjoyed by all.
