“I request of all of you, those who are here and those who are not here, “הושיעה נא” [support Tomchei Temimim], and as a result I am guaranteeing “הצליחה נא” [success].”
The unforgettable event, as related by the Frierdiker Rebbe:
One year after establishing Tomchei Temimim, on Simchas Torah 1899, the Rebbe Rashab paused in the middle of Hakafos and said: “What’s the question what to name the Yeshiva?! It’s written here explicitly…” and continued in the common Simchas Torah tune, “תומכי תמימים הושיעה נא, תקיף לעד הצליחה נא, תמים במעשיו ענינו ביום קראנו”. Then in a booming voice he called out: “The Yeshiva is [now] called ‘Tomchei Temimim,’ and I request of all of you, those who are here and those who are not here, “הושיעה נא” [support Tomchei Temimim], and as a result I am guaranteeing “הצליחה נא” [success].”
(לקוטי דבורים א, עמ’ 60)
In the same vein, the Friediker Rebbe and the Rebbe have repeatedly listed an abundance of brachos, both spiritual and material, for those who support Tomchei Temimim.
