In 2019, Rabbi Mendel and Chani Liberow moved to Morgan Hill to open a Chabad House in this Silicon Valley city famous for its small-town feel.
Some local residents were shocked and couldn’t imagine a vibrant Jewish community blossoming in Morgan Hill, a small town with only 45,000 residents.
The Liberows, however, were undeterred.
Inspired by the Rebbe’s vision to reach out to every Jew, they saw the Jewish future of Morgan Hill.
Less than four years later, a community is blossoming in this Northern California town. Despite the tremendous challenges all Shluchim faced throughout the pandemic and the financial landscape, Chabad of Morgan Hill has grown into a beautiful Jewish community.
The Liberows realized it was time to grow more. “There was a dream to create a community. Now we need to build a building to continue to provide for the existing community’s needs and provide space for future growth.” Rabbi Liberow shared. He acknowledged that for some, a new building seems like another impossibility. “But even the creation of a Jewish community in Morgan Hill seemed unlikely, and look how far we have come in just a few short years.”
The Liberows started looking, and Boruch Hashem found the perfect spot for their new Chabad House. They are under contract to purchase the 4,700 sq. ft building that will serve as a state-of-the-art Center for Jewish Life and a permanent home for the growing South County Jewish community!
The cost for the property is $1,650,000, and the Liberows needed to raise $700,000 before closing on December 20th.
With the help of many generous donors, Chabad of Morgan Hill has already raised $610,000, over 85% of the funds needed.
