A Shloshim memorial in Southwest Florida this past week had the full participation of Chabad rabbis who are servicing the Jewish communities in the area.
In attendance were Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz (Fort Myers), Rabbi Mendy Greenberg (Bonita Springs), Rabbi Simon Jacobson (Punta Gorda), Rabbi Yossi Labkowski (Cape Coral) and Rabbi Fishel Zaklos (Naples).
They came to be with the two families, both mourning family members. But as is the Sephardic tradition, the memorial after the lives of their loved ones were more celebratory than serious.
The Elias family, strong supporters of Chabad Lubavitch of Southwest Florida for almost 20 years and new Shluchim in the area, are mourning the loss of their brother in Israel.
The Cohen family, active participants in local Chabad communities, lost their grandfather in Israel. Mrs. Cohen teaches in Chabad’s Maimonides Hebrew Day School in Fort Myers.
The Elias family and the Cohen family organized a lavish festive meal for relatives and friends. The 5 Shluchim were asked to share words of Torah and inspiration. It was followed by singing and dancing.
May their neshamos have an aliya!!
