Chabad of S. Diego celebrated a Torah dedication on Sunday, 21 Adar, in honor of long-time administrator and friend, Mary Greenbaum, obm.
The Torah was donated by her husband Larry Greenbaum, and by her daughter and son in law, Jay and Lisa Gelbart, for the students of the Chabad Hebrew Academy, whom she loved dearly.
Hundreds of former counselors who served in Camp Gan Israel of S. Diego, California over the course of 30+ years will remember Mary fondly, for her selfless dedication and love for the children, the staff, and for Chabad.
Former staff and friends who would like to send condolences and memories can email Rabbi@ChabadScrippsRanch.org.
I remembered Mary from Rabbi Krantz’s (obm) days in the very early 70’s. She was VERY SPECIAL and an invaluable help to Chabad all these years!!! Sorry to hear she is no longer with us.
In the early 80’s I was honored to be part of the San Diego Jewish community both as a teacher & counselor. Mary was the rock of Rabbi Fradkin’s office. Nothing got passed Mary. I wish they would post a picture of the Mary I remember.

woot woot!!!
you guys are incredible!
I was a counselor at Camp GI in 1975, and I remember Mary as always calm and reliable no matter what. What a loss for Chabad of Diego. What a great merit she must have. What could be more appropriate than dedicating a Torah Scroll in her memory! M. E. G.
I was a counselor in the early 80’s and learned a lot from Mary. She always took care of us.
