Odessa. The terrible plight of thousands of Jewish families here reaches new heights, following the shelling of the city’s electricity and heating infrastructure. The citizens of Ukraine are now the main victims of the shelling of the Russian Air Force, which is taking revenge on the successes of the Ukrainian army and has now left them without heating, in the freezing temperature of -5 degrees.
As a result, thousands of Jews in Odessa are suffering from severe hunger and frigid temperatures. This is a direct result of the merciless striking of the Russian Air Force, which destroyed essential infrastructure and the communications and central heating systems in the city.
Rabbi Avraham Wolff, rabbi of the city of Odessa, says, “as the rabbi of the community, I stayed here despite the war and despite the terrible danger, in order to give encouragement and hope to the unfortunate and helpless who remained here, and I promised not to abandon them. We have gone through enormous difficulties until now, but I am sticking to my word and being faithful to my promise. Without your help in obtaining generator systems for heating and basic equipment, we will not be able to continue. We are collapsing and in real life-threatening danger!”
