Over the last twenty years there has been a movement at YU to study Chasidus. In 2013, YU hired the Chasid, Rabbi Moshe Weinberger, Rav of the Aish Kodesh Kehila, as their Mashgiach Ruchani-Mashpia.
Rabbi Weinberger, in speaking with Rabbi Chaim Dalfin about his work from 2013-2020, lauded YU for their openness. He said the results continue today.
Rabbi Dr. Aaron Rakeffet-Rothkoff, who is a prodigy student of Rabbi Soloveitchik, agreed that study of Chasidus at YU is necessary. He would like to see YU offer a formal recognized program at the YU Beis Medrash for students. He feels this will be very attractive. Although it would be a departure from YU’s founders philosophy, nevertheless, one must do what’s best for students today, and Chasidus in necessary to keep students coming to YU.
This interview is a preview of Rabbi Chaim Dalfin’s upcoming book, Chabad and YU.
