Rabbi Chaim Elazar Braun, a rabbi in Flatbush who was instrumental in his son’s appointment to the Crown Heights community Beis Din, passed away Friday, 8 Teves 5773.
He was 70 years old and suffered a sudden heart-attack moments before Shabbos candle lighting.
Rabbi Braun has led the Congregation Shaarey Zion in Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY. The rabbinical ordination he gave his son helped Rabbi Yosef Braun become elected as the third member of the Crown Heights Beis Din, alongside Rabbi Avrohom Osdoba and Rabbi Yaacov Schwei.
During the inauguration ceremony in January 2011, the father said: “Everyone used to say about my son that he is filled with Torah and Mitzvos. My son has constantly learned with my father who really wanted to give him smicha but was too weak to hold the pen.”
The levaya will take place Motzoei Shabbos at 9:45 pm from Congregation Shaarey Zion, 1659 E 13th St, Brooklyn, NY. Burial will be in Kiryas Joel, Monroe, NY.

I was one of the many who attended the levaye Motzoei Shabbos, on such short notice.
Each of the Rove’s (Rabbi Bruan) brothers are great Talmidei Chachomim and Raabonim.
It was noted, with what Kovod they regard our Rov.
They should only know of simchos.
