As the 40th anniversary of the Rebbe’s initiative of learning the daily Rambam approaches, Rabbi Shmuel Butman, Chairman of the Vaad Siyum HaRambam Haolami, has issued a heartfelt request to help fund in what is anticipated to be the largest Siyum HaRambam in history. The event, set to take place just before Yud Alef Nissan on Eastern Parkway, expects to draw over 20,000 participants from various demographics to celebrate four decades of continuous Rambam learning.
In his message to the community, Rabbi Butman wrote:
“As we near the 40th anniversary of the Rebbe’s launch of תקנת לימוד הרמב”ם, I extend a heartfelt invitation to you to partake in this profound זכות. For nearly four decades, it has been my זכות to be a part of the Siyum HaRambam Haolami, an initiative that is both close and dear to the Rebbe. This year, just before Yud Alef Nissan, we anticipate the largest Siyum HaRambam in history, with over 20,000 אנשים נשים וטף expected to gather on Eastern Parkway to celebrate ארבעים שנה of continuous Rambam learning.
In 5746, the Rebbe demonstrated his extraordinary support for the Siyum by giving a dollar to each participant—a gesture that profoundly underscored his esteem for the Siyumim. I vividly recall the Rebbe sending out 6,000 dollars, one for each participant. As we mark this historic milestone, I invite you to join me in ensuring that this year’s Siyum is celebrated ברוב פאר והדר, exactly as the Rebbe envisioned.
I am reaching out for your help to cover the costs of this momentous Siyum. I plan to bring the names of all donors to the Ohel to ask for a Bracha for כל משאלות לבבכם לטובה, that all your heartfelt wishes be fulfilled for the good.
Please support the Siyum HaRambam. Your partnership will not only help cover the costs associated with organizing this significant event but will also ensure its success. Surely, by supporting the Siyum, you will draw upon yourself all the brachos. Remember, דער רבי בלייבט ניט קיין בעל חוב.
With heartfelt thanks,
Rabbi Shmuel Butman Chairman of the Vaad Siyum HaRambam Haolami
