About 3 to 6 cruise ships docking at the ports in Old San Juan daily, thousands of people pass through its busy streets, many of whom are Jewish. With sightseeing and shopping in the historic city, the Jewish visitors now have a new stop, Kosher in Paradise.
Chabad of Puerto Rico, directed by Head Shliach Rabbi Mendel Zarchi who oversees Chabad operations in the Caribbean Islands under the auspices of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch, now have yet another service catered for Jewish residents and visitors.
Thanks to their Israeli-style delicacies like falafel, paninis and fries, the eatery has become a haven for Kosher travelers to stop by for a lunch or dinner and a must-see for all Jewish visitors coming to Puerto Rico.
This unique restaurant, located right next door to The Jewish Welcome Center in Old San Juan, directed by Rabbi Levi Stein, is the only Kosher restaurant on the Island, in addition to Chabad’s main center, where a Kosher Food Service is available for Jewish visitors.
In the past weeks since its opening, Jewish tourists from all over the world, whether Kosher at home or not, were delighted to eat an Israeli style dish in this exotic island or taste a local Kosher Puerto Rican cuisine.
