Public service announcement:
As in past years, the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council will again be organizing a free distribution of Matzah and other Pesach foods.
Each family that registers will receive a coupon, good for Matzah and other food items.
Also at the same time, information will be provided about the time, location and other details of the distribution. To allow for proper planning, Only families who pick up the coupon on Tuesday will be able to participate.
This year, the plan is to give all items, including Matzah, together at one time. Please have ID ready to verify your address.
Registration will be at the storefront office of the Community Council, 387 Kingston Avenue, on Tuesday March 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
In addition to the food items, CHJCC has already distributed tens of thousands of dollars in MetCouncil food debit cards, as well as yomtov foods at the CHJCC food pantry.
As in prior years, Mrs. Deborah Scheiner will be distributing chickens, fish and other items. You can support Mrs. Scheiner’s effort at chcentral.org/donate.
If you know of a family that needs help making Pesach but has not received assistance so far, please call Mrs. Mintz at 718-771-9000 x 7728.
It’s very nice of the community to give out food. Maybe you shouldn’t be so chutzpadik and be picky. Be happy for what you are being given. They could easily give you nothing.
And if someone doesn’t have internet or even a computer then they would not know about this at all and I guess it’s just THEIR TOUGH LUCK!!! Why is it that other communities (like williamsburg or boro park) manage to find ways to let EVERYONE in their neighborhood know about this assistance AND, found a way to do it so that the people don’t feel like poor slobs. WE IN CROWN HEIGHTS HAVE A HECK OF A LOT TO LEARN FROM THESE OTHER NEIGHBORHOODS ABOUT HOW TO TRULY CARE FOR THEIR RESIDENTS.
Most people that need the help don’t want the whole community to know and want to retain some personal dignity. Please rethink your plans for next year. Continue doing this wonderful tzedaka, put find a different venue please, with more discretion. Nobody feels good about taking a handout.
3) is the problem with asking ID is to make that receiver lives in crown heights or they are LIMITING it ONLY to crown heights residents ?????
It would be nice if this can be done in a more dignified way verses the embarrassment of having to stand on Kingston Ave.
is a picture required to, in addition to signing up on Kingston ave?
is there an inyan to shame people c”v….
Why we have to requird ID?! We just move in Crown Heights from Mass. WOW okay.
However embarrassing it is already…why make it more?
ID – lines on “kingston Ave – This is a great thing and well commended however it would be nice if we could go a little extra to allow our own have some dignity
What do you say?! Crown families who need have this wonderful resource…NOT shluchim.
I just find this sort of discontent when stores offer specials to Shluchim so for those of you…..
Please respect your own community, by giving out food with Rabbi Osdoba Shlita Hechesher!
