In our generation, with many people working more than one job, late hours, both parents working, special needs children, taking care of older parents or relatives, etc., we want to add even more simcha to our Yom Tovim.
When I think of Pesach, aside from all of the warm fuzzy feelings I feel when I think of getting together with family, and all of the wonderful traditions we do with our families and guests…I think of the amount of effort it takes to make this happen.
This year we have, I’YH, a Pesach program where the focus is on kashrus and spirituality, rather than an expensive, fancy vacation.
When I’ve found programs in the past, the amount of packaged products used make me cringe. Wanting to honor the Chabad minhagim, I’ve tried to get one of our close friends on shlichus to run a program, but to no avail.
I know that there are many people in our community who want a strict Chabad Pesach, but are unable to make Pesach themselves, and either need or would like to go away.
There may be a solution. Rabbi Gershon Sandler, from Gan Israel Retreat in the Poconos, is willing to make a program, if we get enough people to make it worthwhile.
He is willing to run a Pesach program at his beautiful, rustic camp, with the strictest Chabad standards of Kashrus. It is a camp site and not a hotel. Our goal is to make it very warm, friendly, family atmosphere, with guests volunteering any special talents (shiurim, davening, laining, farbrenging, nature walks). For example, our family’s going to make a grand Bingo game with lots of prizes for one of the evening activities.
We need to see if people are interested. If you have an interest in being part of this program, please contact me at Pesach@CGIPoconos.org.
I will send you the prices and pictures of our facility. In order to confirm that this will happen we must get deposits by February 6 (Yud Shvat) and paid in full by March 1st (3 Adar).
With warm regards,
Mrs Dvori Paul
