Newly elected Mayor Ed Gainey visited Yeshiva Schools of Pittsburgh, dropping by a preschool Shabbos party and the high school girls’ Rosh Chodesh Nissan brunch.
He spoke to the high school girls about setting themselves up to be the leaders of tomorrow by embracing their learning and spirituality. By doing so, they could enjoy both self-fulfillment and the chance to be of service to others.
He and Rabbi Yossi Rosenblum, CEO, discussed the ways in which spiritual health and education feature in a broader culture of wellness and the prominence that mental health and wellness should have in the role of education in general.
Mayor Gainey was excited to hear about the wellness division and the upcoming Wholly Chinuch campaign, noting how important it is to support all areas of student development to give students the best chance to succeed.
