While some hotels are already sold out for the upcoming Passover season (eve of April 8th through the 16th), most hotels with a Passover program are still hoping for a last minute surge.
Entrepreneurs of the $100 million Passover hotel business are concerned about the ramifications of the deepening recession on their business, but they are still hoping to reach 2008 levels with a surge of last minute reservations.
“Some are struggling but I think this year more than ever people are waiting to the last minute,” said Elan Kornblum, President & Publisher of Great Kosher Restaurants Magazine (www.GreatKosherRestaurants.com), who this year is offering a comprehensive listing of all Passover hotel programs plus referral services.
Kornblum believes that many “people save up and use this as their only vacation out of the year.”
Despite the optimism, Kosher Today has learned that business for more than a dozen programs is off by more than 20%.
They are hoping that the last minute business materialize albeit some worry at discounted prices.

Doesn’t anyone get it? the Pesach hotel away craze hs done nothing but line the pockets of “pesach at teh hotel” promoters. Save your money do it the old fashioned way, the way I grew up with Pesach in the home. Hire a helper fro the wife. Let the children remember Pesach in the home and not at some gashmious experiereince eating all the lousy unhealthy food served at the hotels that you do not need. Give the extra money for Tzedeaka or tuition. Get real.
Yes, unfortunately it is no longer taboo in Lubavitcher circles to go “elsewhere”.
Even more unfortunate: There are many further levels of “once-were-taboo” that have opened up.
Ad mossay is no longer in zman (shana) it is in Nefesh declines above all.
I heard about an extremely affordable pesach program made for lubavitchers in new hampshire. non gebruchts and lubavitcher minyanim only. they definitly have the avg family in mind. their website is homestylepesach.com
I am Looking forward for Pesach in Crown Heights, no better place.
as long as people have another reason to argue about….
What has happened to us? when i was little, growing up in CH, my parents wouldnt even let us eat at our good friends house!
each person should live according to his/her own beliefs and world views
gimme people a break – stop interfering in their lives!!
The post board like this one, is not the place where Lubavitcher Minhagim are decided, if one would like to go to a Pesach program at a hotel, he/she should ask their Rav.
What has happened to us? “nothing wrong” having a pesach seder in strange environment under the mercy of strangers? if you don’t get it, explaining won’t help
To Hotels?
Many lubavitchers go away for pesach, there are many non gebrokts and shemura matzah programs available. you can even have private sedorim, there is nothing wrong with it.
If i could afford it.
I beleive not many Lubavitchers will go to a hotel for Pesach – what abut our minhagim?? This was never done in the past and I certainly hope it is not going to become something that lubvavitchers will do.
I have plans to attend a Pesach program in another state, and am looking forwrd to it! I sure hope there is a nice amount of enrollment.
