A recent dinner at the Crystal Plaza in Livingston celebrated the 22nd anniversary of Chabad Center of Northwest New Jersey in Rockaway Township.
The evening was filled with emotion as the honorees shared vignettes of their spiritual journeys as well as personal experiences with the Chabad Center, northjersey.com reported.
Established in the beginning of 1988 by Rabbi Asher and Sarah Herson, the center has grown into a multifaceted network of social, religious and charitable programs.
Chabad’s diversified programs serve the greater region through five community centers established in Morris, Sussex and Warren counties.
Additionally, their brand-new Educational Center conducts many nonsectarian programs in conjunction with local school districts, hospitals, police departments and municipalities.
In addition to the Early Learning Center, Hebrew School, Hebrew High, and Adult Education Institute, it will soon be the home of the first community Mikvah to be established in Northwest New Jersey.
The dinner was addressed by Herson’s father, Rabbi Moshe Herson, Head Shliach in New Jersey and dean of the Rabbinical College of America in Morristown.
Cantor Zalman Baumgarten entertained.
Awards were given to Michael A. Saffer, Esq. of Mandelbaum Salsburg, Sy Inwentarz of Bowker, LLC, and Joseph and Magda Ungerleider.
