A new children’s workshop program promises to make learning exciting and fun and bring ancient traditions to life in a vibrant, meaningful way.
Rabbi Levi and Fraida Raskin (nee Landa) and their children Mushka and Leah have recently moved to Maryland to open a new branch of the revolutionary educational hands-on workshop series “JCrafts – Ancient Traditions For Young Hands.”
Modeled after the popular “Living Legacy” workshop program directed by Rabbi Zalman Grossbaum of New Jersey, JCraft workshops illustrate a wide array of Jewish concepts, holidays, traditions and practices taught by a seasoned educator.
The program features experiential activities such as pressing olives and making olive oil for Chanukah or making quills and learning Hebrew calligraphy for a Torah workshop, explains Rabbi Levi Raskin.
“At JCrafts, we believe in children learning by doing and learning while having fun,” he says.
An experienced workshop educator, Rabbi Raskin has worked for both the Living Legacy program and the workshops program My Jewish Learning Experience, directed by Rabbi Dovid Ezagui.
The Raskins will be providing their educational craft workshops at Hebrew Schools, camps, youth programs and schools throughout Maryland and the surrounding areas.
The Raskins were appointed by Rabbi Shmuel Kaplan, director of Chabad-Lubavitch of Maryland.
