While the Rebbe said that ‘Moshiach is here, we just have to open our eyes’, he still continued fasting on fast days. Why? I have heard an explanation (though I can’t provide a source), that the Rebbe means that the objective of Moshiach’s coming, namely being able to study Torah unhindered, is already attainable – so open up your eyes and start living Moshiach – dedicate your life to the study of Torah and pursuing G-dly knowledge. Great job in keeping with the tochen. There are times when people are in the media, and suudenly the rabbis become political commentators, Rabbi Lew kept on target the whole time. Kol hakavod. (And he kept his hat and jacket, like a true shliach).
Yossi well done and a great kidush Hashem. Mostly, not only did you not allow it to be turned into a political circus and kept the title of Shliach unsullied and untainted as well as unpolitical you also brought Mashiach and redemption into the discussion as well. Much hatzlacha.
