Mrs. Suri Crawford, a Crown Heights resident, was killed after being struck by a car Thursday, 12 Tammuz 5771.
The accident happened at Hudson Street and Canal Street in lower Manhattan.
Born Sarah Perlman, she grew up in Massachusetts and became close to Lubavitch with the help of Rabbi Dovid Edelman of Longmeadow.
“This is a shock,” one of her friends told COLlive after hearing the sudden news. “She was a very friendly, outgoing, warm and happy person. She always wanted to learn and grow.”
“She had a tremendous love for her children,” said Rabbi Shea Hecht, a family friend and Chairman of the NCFJE organization. “She was a very honest person and at times even blunt, and knew to be true to herself when it counts.”
Her husband, R’ Avrohom Crawford, a librarian in New York University, passed away in April 2011.
She is survived by her mother, sister, and her three children, Nechama Witriol of Kiryas Joel, Yitzchok Crawford of Jerusalem, Israel, and Yisroel Crawford of Crown Heights.
The Levaya will take place Friday, leaving Shomrei Hadas at 12:00 pm and passing by 770 at 12:45 pm.

I am so saddened at the passing of my friend of 45 years!! Although distance seperated us physically, we were always in touch through mail and calls. I will miss her sense of humor and her laugh. I will miss talking about the “good ole days”….I will miss my yearly phone call on my birthday when she would call me in the middle of the night (my time) and “sing” to me…..My condolences to her entire family……She loved you all soooooo much!!!!
how sad! She was a high school classmate of mine; we will always remember her. She was looking forward to a reunion of our class.

OMG what horrific news. I’m in shock. May Hashem grant Chami and her siblings all the strength that they need to go through such a terrible time.
Mr and Mrs Crawfoed were such wonderful, kind people. They opened their home to me when i was in seminary and it was my comforting place to go so far away from home. I will never forget their hospitality and kindness.
