Mrs. Leah Edelman, of Paris, France passed away on Tuesday, Elul 28, 5773.
Mrs. Edelman was the daughter of R’ Eliyahu Belkin, who was arrested and murdered in Leningrad along with other Lubavitch Chassidim.
In 1947 Leah and her mother Chaya and brothers emigrated from Russia, and her mother became the cook in 770 and Oholei Torah.
After her marriage to Rabbi Yoel Edelman, a Schochet, they moved to Paris where they lived for many years, raising 13 children.
She is survived by her children: Michla Levin – Crown Heights, Eliyahu Edelman – Paris, France, Frada Hurwitz – Crown Heights, Gittel Matusof – France, Bluma Serebryanski – Surfers Paradise, Australia, Zalman Edelman – Melbourne, Australia, Rivka Meijers – Israel, Levi Edelman – Israel, Mendel Edelman – Brunoy, France, Yosef Yitzchok Edelman – Paris, France, Dvora Hirschorn – Kiryat Malachi, Israel, Chana Sufrin – Leeds, England and many grandchildren and great grandchildren around the world.
Her son Chaim Yonah Edelman obm passed away 12 years ago.
The levaya took place today in Paris and burial in Israel.

Everyone in Paris knew Leah Edelman as Madame edelman, she was the kindest most sincere person, she touched so many lives. She made such an impression on others, and the world will miss such a beautiful lady inside and out! Leah storm the heavens for us!
Such a beautiful role model of an emesdike Chasidishe woman with such a warm and giving heart….may Hashem comfort the entire family and may she be a gutte beiter for them and for all of Kllal Yisroel.

I will forever remember when we were visiting Paris the summer of 1989 and wanted to daven at the shul where the Rebbe had davened years earlier. So, we walked from where we were staying – over an hour – and, as a young self centered couple, assumed someone would surely approach us and invite us to join them for the Shabbos meal.
