Rabbi Avrohom Altein, Director of Chabad Lubavitch of Winnipeg, was the mesader kidushin at the wedding of Heshy Dubrawsky and Shiffy Gerber last week in Toronto, Ontario.
The Shliach for over 40 years used the opportunity to hold a Chassidic Farbrengen with some former Winnipeg residents who are today members of the Lubavitch community in Toronto.
Hosted in the home of Dr. Koppel Goldberg, participants sang niggunim and shared memories of their days in the capital of Manitoba, Canada.
Rabbi Altein updated them about the activities of the new Lubavitch Jewish Learning Centre which opened in December 2010 in Winnipeg’s South End, where most of the city’s Jews have moved to.
While the 17,000-square-foot complex is home to an active shul, school, day care, JLI branch and library, its state-of-the-art Mivkah is still being built with four preparation rooms and separate entries for men and women.
“It will Beezras Hashem be completed in two months,” the veteran Shliach reported at the Farbrengen.
Participants, thrilled to hear about the major progress in their birthplace, have decided then and there to take out their check books and donate to the Mikvah.
The Goldberg’s are awesome!
Koppel and his wife Ariela are true chassidim of the Rebbe. TO is lucky to have them! BTW Koppel the white beard makes you “fun di eltere chassidim”.
very pitchereque
Always trying to help. Great People.
So nice to see everyone and imagine how happy the farbrengan was. It’s a beautiful thing to participate in strengthening your original hometown and being a part of the growth in Yiddishkeit. Telchi machyol ad chayol.
