Lubavitch of Wisconsin has announced the opening of a new high school for the 2013-2014 school year.
The school will be directed by Rabbi Yossi and Ilana Bassman.
For many graduates of community days schools finding a suitable and affordable Jewish high can be a real challenge and prohibitively expensive. Students not yet suited for a traditional yeshiva schedule, not from Lubavitch families, and behind in many basic Gemara skills can make a traditional Yeshiva not an option, leading many to discontinue their Jewish education R”L.
Providing students with an individualized, relevant, and engaging Jewish education, alongside a first rate secular education, with a very affordable tuition. A dream? Hillel High
Hillel High has partnered with the eAchieve Online School to offer a world-class curriculum, which students complete at their own pace with the hands-on support of our instructors. eAchieve has just been named one of Newsweek Magazine’s top High Schools in America.
In addition, Hillel High offers a Jewish educational experience unlike any other in the state of Wisconsin. We invite students from all levels of observance, and encourage them to question, explore and discuss the issues that matter to them.
Demographics: Geared to students who are looking for a Jewish education but are not candidates for any of our Lubavitch Yeshivos.
Separate classes for boys and girls.
Education: Excellent secular and Judaic education. Emphasis will be placed on practical yiddishkeit and its meaning for kids today.
Tuition: $6500.00 plus room and board (assuming scholarships and student aid eligibility).
Background. Our elementary school, Hillel Academy, is a community school that Lubavitch of Wisconsin is running for the past nine years ago. In the process, we gained experience and know-how in running a quality school and have the infrastructure in place to expand. Building on Hillel Academy’s strong academic and Judaic track record of excellence we have decided to open Hillel High School.
Hillel High, will draw from the expertise of our exceptional teaching and administrative staff; the solid infrastructure, facilities, and a committed cadre of initial donors. This strong foundation better positions Hillel High to be successful from its inception, educationally, administratively, and financially.
Tuition. Perhaps the greatest obstacle to creating a high school of this sort is the prohibitive costs involved. Cost estimates for high school is around $25,000 per child, per year! Much of this cost is associated with providing solid secular education. Due to our partnership we eAchieve for many of our students we can provide a reduced annual tuition from $13,000 to $6,500 per year.
Limudei Kodesh. Hillel High will have small classes with personal individual attention and care for each student. Our Limudei Kodesh curriculum will be entirely grounded and focused in being relevant and meaningful to our students.
General Education. HHS has partnered with the Waukesha School district to offer a best-in-class education through the eAchieve Online School. eAchieve has just been named one of Newsweek Magazine’s top High Schools in America. Students will tackle the online curriculum at their own pace with the guidance and support of HHS teachers.
Programming. Providing fun, inspirational, and exciting programming will be a major component in our school. With many exciting field trips and outdoor activities, biking, hiking, boating, monthly Shabbatons, creating an environment for the students to best grow and experience the beauty of Yiddishkeit in a fun and refreshing way.
Community. The Milwaukee area’s Chabad-Lubavitch communities offers the ideal warm and embracing experience to create the perfect environment for out of town students to feel cared for and nourished. With seventeen Shluchim couples; three Chabad communities that B”H share and interact wonderfully together, and an anash community that is truly welcoming and hospitable, creates a great environment for our out of town students to feel welcome and at home.
Housing. For year one, a number of families are considering boarders. Please contact us for more information.
For inquiries and/or more information please contact Rabbi Yossi Bassman, administrator, at 414-367-8582 or 414-961-6100 x206 or view brochure here.
