Michael Atlan, longtime Crown Heights resident who created a popular luach for Taharas Hamishpacha calculations, passed away on Monday, 8 Adar, 5777.
He was 72.
Michoel, born in France, moved to Crown Heights when he became a Baal Teshuva.
A talented and energetic dancer, the Rebbe encouraged him many times to dance and bring simcha to others, so he became known as “the Rebbe’s dancer.”
He created and published a luach for taharas hamishpacha calculations, sold and used around the world.
He was a very kind person, always there for anyone who needed him, and beloved by all who knew him.
He is survived by his mother and sister.
Since he never had any children, his family requested that people do mitzvos and pray in his honor, for Michael ben Nouara.
The levaya will take place today, Monday, passing by 770 at 2 pm.

I remember him in and around Hadar Hatorah with Rabbi Goldberg. Wonderful person. Baruch Dayan HoEmes
I can’t believe it. It’s so so sad to lose such a mench person. Was always helpful and caring and Baal tsedaka. May his neshama bring Mashiach now. Amen!

We will miss you dearly.
Moshiach Now!
Your Friend.

we should continue michoe’s z’l way of life then for sure moshiach will be here.
I had the Zchus to work with him on his Luach. I met many people who tried making a luach, with all kinds of computer programs. NOBODY beat Michoel’s brain. He was a genius. The Luach he made is the simplest and most user friendly, and above all – halachically fool proof. You cannot make a mistake. We stated to work on a new version but…. Michoel I will miss you.

My wife & I were both shocked and saddened…terrible. I knew Michoel for many years and I always loved him. Michoel was always a very friendly and fine man….terrible event!.
I just recently spoke to him in ‘770’ and he always seemed very energetic and healthy. My wife was also friendly with his ex wife who was also Morrocan.
terrible…’Boruch Dayan HaEmet.’ We will miss him very much. So sudden…unusual.
I worked with Michael on a few projects he was a real mentch to deal with and always had a smile. He will be missed.
To #3, I’m sure the ‘a’ in Michael does not change the chof to a k, rather to a chaf, as in the Sefardic pronounciation.
And as someone said: Un bon Juif et fier de l’etre.
Tehy nafsho tserura betsur Hachaym
Such a special person… May his neshama be elavated.

For many years he built the platform and sponsored the carpeting under the menora in 770.
The Rebbe spoke that the Jewish name should be used, as the Rebbe stated an an example “His name is Michoel, not Michael” (Sichas Shabbos Shlach 5741).
“and those that are not with us should awaken and rejoice” very soon
He was called to the Torah as Michael Ben Eliyahu.
