R’ Dov Ber Subin, one of the founders of the Orthodox Jewish community of Teaneck, NJ and patriarch of a large family, passed away on Sunday, 8 Adar, 5777.
He was 92.
R’ Subin (known as “Buddy”) was one of the first Orthodox Jews to move to Teaneck, New Jersey, and one of the initial founders of one of the largest and most successful Jewish communities in the United States.
In 1974, when his eldest daughter Malkah got married, R’ Subin merited to have a Yechidus with the Rebbe where he was told by the Rebbe to go “Mechayil El Chayil,” from strength to strength. The Rebbe then took his hand and asked him to sit down in his office, where they had a discussion for a few minutes.
He merited to live to see children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who follow in is footsteps, and most recently, danced at his great-granddaughter’s wedding and then attended the bris of a great-great-grandson.
He is survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many of whom are Shluchim of the Rebbe and pillars and leaders of their communities.
He is survived by his children, Malkah Lehr Neistein of Crown Heights/ Miami, Dr. David Subin of Englewood, New Jersey, Dr. Rebecca Schneebaum of Englewood, New Jersey, Mr. Eliezer (LLoyd) Subin of Silver Springs, Maryland, Mr. Reuven (Russell) Subin of Potomac, Maryland, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
The Levaya will begin tomorrow morning at 9:30 am at Gutterman and Musicant in Hackensack, New Jersey followed by burial at Cedar Park Cemetery.
Shiva will take place in Englewood, NJ.
