A Florida Chabad couple touched by the murder of Leiby Kletzky named their son Ezriel Leib in memory of the Borough Park boy at his bris this morning.
The six and a half pound baby boy was born last Wednesday evening, just hours after the gruesome discovery of the missing boy, and Shmuly and Shira Rudsky of Miami made the decision to give their son the name that had come to mean so much to so many.
“My wife and I were in the delivery room when we heard the tragic news,” said Shmuly Rudski in an interview with VIN News from his son’s bris at the Jewish Learning Center in Miami Beach.
“We felt a connection. A Jewish child had been lost just hours before our son came into this world. From everything we had heard, Leiby had a special neshama and like so many others, his story touched us very deeply. We made the decision right then and there to honor Leiby’s memory by giving our son the name Leib.”
The Mohel Yochanan Klein, admits to being overwhelmed when he heard the name of the baby this morning.
“All I could think was mi k’amcha yisroel,” said Klein who is also the chaplain at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
“How a family in Miami could be so affected by something happening a thousand miles away that the first thing that goes through their mind after their son is born is that they want to name him after this boy? It is truly unbelievable.”

This is the classic Ahavas Yisroel, to show love for a Jew you never heard of and you never met. This is what the Rebbe taught us all these years and its really happening.
To #5: The naming is a Nevua of the parents, it has nothing to do with Eliyahu Hanavi. See Teshuvos Harashba and the Arizal in Shaar Hagilgulim
There are many ways within minhag Yisroel to name after someone. This includes things like naming from male to female and vica versa, using things like, similar in lettering, similar in sound, similar in meaning. There are also instinces where it is appropriate to name after someone but with a shinuy. Those who are familiar with these inyonim (and there are seforim on the subject, like Ziv Hashaimos) will recognize that for a reason it makes good sense to name him after his nickname. There is also, according to many, an advantage when you have another name in addition. So,… Read more »

His name is Yehuda. Thats how its written on his “matzeivah”.
So I guess Leib was his nickname.
This baby will be a Tzaddik of this generation and of all generations.
Hatzlocha Rabboh
yes, even though his name was yehuda, he was affectionately known as “leiby”, and surely the parents of newborn had this in mind when naming the child. May Laiby’s a’h neshomo have an aliya, and may the parents raise this baby l’torah chupa umaisim toivim, with much gezunt and nachas!
