Answering the call of the times.
The Chinuch Office of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch, the educational branch of Chabad-Lubavitch, has notified that it will be organizing again its summer-time conferences for Chabad educators.
Last summer the Kinus HaMechanchim for men and Kinus HaMechanchos for women broke from a years-long tradition of gatherings at a hotel for discussions and training, holding a tele-seminar due to lack of funds.
“The demand from the mechanchim and mechanchos was such that we couldn’t refuse,” the division’s director Rabbi Nochem Kaplan told COLlive, about the decision to return to on-location seminars.
The men’s conference will take place on Sunday and Monday, Rosh Chodesh and 2 Tammuz 5774 (June 29-30 2014). The women’s conference will take place on Monday and Tuesday 23-24 Tammuz 5774 (July 21-22 2014).
These days were the preferred ones based on questionnaires that were answered by teachers and principals. The venue is still undecided, we were told, but it’s sure be held in the Tri State area as previous years for easy access.
In a possible response to the alternative programs and retreats being offered lately, a panel discussion consisting of veteran Lubavitch educators will be sharing hadracha-guidance they personally received from the Rebbe over the years.
“It is no wonder that requests to be present have begun arriving not only from educators in America but also from overseas,” says Rabbi Kaplan about the caliber of presenters and the carefully planned program.
The conferences are an opportunity for educators to learn, to share and to explore what works by their colleagues. Presentations are made, and papers are delivered, by some of the best nationally and internationally renowned professionals in the field.
The program is planned carefully by the Vaad Hakinus for men and women respectively, who work hard to create a rich, well rounded program.
thank you Rabbi Kaplan!
Very happy to hear!
“The Chinuch Office of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch” lol. What else is Merkos L’inyonei CHINUCH focused on if not Chinuch?! Glad to see resources are finally being put to use towards merkos’ mission – to enhance and further grow Chinuch in Lubavitch. If one thing the last big discussion on COL should make us realize is that Chinuch in Lubavitch was sorely neglected over the last few decades. Chabad’s core is at stake and glad to see people are finally understanding how neccessary this is. Kudos to R’ Katlorsky and R’ Kaplan for keeping their eye on the ball and looking… Read more »
Thank you very much Rabbi Kaplan for the effort you put into putting the kinnusim together. As a teacher, I look forward to the energy of the mechanchim getting together, as well as the thoughtful and progressive ideas presented each year at the sessions. It is truly the highlight of my year.

A grateful Rebbi
