Menachem Raitport a Lubavitcher resident of Crown Heights, is running for Congress in New York’s 9th Congressional District, which includes the neighborhoods of Brownsville, Crown Heights, East Flatbush, Flatbush, Kensington, Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Midwood, Sheepshead Bay, Marine Park, Gerritsen Beach, and Prospect Lefferts Gardens.
The district is currently represented by Congresswoman Yvette Clarke.
Raitport is running on the Republican Ticket and is seeking signatures from local residents. He is hoping to garner the 1,000 signatures needed to petition for his candidacy.
Raitport told COLlive.com he stands for “family values, conservative values, and wants to increase safety in our neighborhoods.” He also plans to fight for Jewish education rights.
Raitport was a 2015 special election Republican and Conservative Party candidate for District 43 of the New York State Assembly. He ran unsuccessfully for District 20 of the New York State Senate in 2014.
He ran for election for Brooklyn Borough President in New York. He lost in the general election on November 2, 2021.
Raitport was also a 2016 Republican candidate for District 20 of the New York State Senate.
To sign the petition, one must be a registered Republican. Signatures must be submitted in actual writing, not online, and by June 9. For assistance in signing or to volunteer for the campaign, call 917 335-6574.

The community should support his effort. Definitely better than Ms. Clark. She absolutely DOES NOT have our interests in mind – certainly not chinuch! True colors will show if the “community activists” stand behind and sign for Mendy – and encourage the public to the way they did for Eric Adams and others. Once these elected officials show their true allegiance, these same activists come crying to sign the petition – our children’s chinuch is at stake……
But the Dems on EP will try persuading us to vote for their same ol’ same ol’ because they think they have them in their pockets. See what has been the outcome of that…bringing Adams so the Ohel when he was behind! Think people, think if who you are voting for is in our best interest.
yvette clarke signed the notorious Gaza 54 letter, stands for the most liberal and anti Yiddish matters there is. The Republicans will take over the House in November so the power will be there not with the Dems like we are always told.
