Over 2000 people joined the 54th annual Lag B’omer parade in Stamford Hill organized by Lubavitch UK. Groups from Scotland, Manchester, Nottingham, Cambridge, Watford, Essex, Wimbledon, Southgate, North-West London, joined the many local families and children from Stamford Hill.
Shloimy Gertner‘s beautiful singing accompanied by three musicians, marching-bands by the boys’ school, Rabbi Dubov’s encouraging words, Torah pesukim recited by the children, clowns and acrobats, colourful decorations, banners designed by the children, parade flags children were waving, and the huge crowd of onlookers, together made the day a most wonderful experience for all.
The parade of thousands of children and adults, was led by horse and carriage, followed by the Mitzvah Tank with live music, a marching band and floats, accompanied by police and CST from Lubavitch Headquarters to Clapton Common park.
At the park the young children were welcomed by live music and an exciting funfair. Highlights included inflatables, a teacup ride, petting zoo, pony rides, paint machines, face painting and a large variety of crafts. All children received a bright orange helium balloon to take home at the end of the day.
For the older children funfairs were organized by Lubavitch Boys’ School and Lubavitch Girls’ School, where their activities ranged from archery, abseiling to an exotic hands-on bird show.
“It was a lot of work to organize such an event, but seeing the smiles on the children’s faces made it all worth it,” said one of the organizers.
“My children had such a good time; they loved every minute of it! Thank you for organizing such a beautiful event!” said one participant. “Everything was so well organized, inclusive and child oriented! All the children were smiling!”
The parade was organized by the Lubavitch Children’s Centre and the Lubavitch schools as a joint project.
not only them but many more ………….
it was such fun, we loved it
Very well said!!
The parade and funfair in the park were in the real spirit of Achdus, bringing all communities of London together! Well done to all involved!!
Stamford Hill is made up of all different communities, particularly the Chassidishe – Belz, Bobov etc. Town is buzzing with excitement, commenting how proud they are to be part of it. We built it on previous years’hard work, but it wasthe best we have had. It had rained and hailed on Shabbos and the sun was shining strong. They asked how we organised that!
go mummmy 🙂
Rabbi Sholem Ber Sudak and his wife Devora Leah worked for weeks, many nights in a row organising this great event in Stamford Hill. They definitely deserve credit for this tremendous parade and for their flourishing Lubavitch Children Centre.
