Tiberias, the city where the sages Rabbi Akiva and Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai walked, hosted a number of events in honor of Lag BaOmer.
Organized by Chabad, the events began with a gathering in the center of the city. Head Shliach Rabbi Yosef Kramer addressed the children and told them how fortunate they are to live in this Holy city.
The city’s Mayor Zohar Oved was there as well, praising the various educational activities of Chabad in the city.
The parade in the streets included a group of drummers marching through the promenade singing all the way to 3 large boats awaiting them at the shores of the Kinneret.
From there, the 1000 marchers boarded a boat for annual Grand Lag B’Omer Boat Parade.
There was a special event for girls in a beautiful hall, with Lag BaOmer songs, prizes and an educational movie.
In addition, there was a boys parade and outdoor event. That also took place in Tiberias, with great spirit and joy, thanks to bochurim of the new Chabad Yeshiva Gedola.
