Chief Rabbi of Russia Berel Lazar stated that more people are attending Jewish services during the recession.
“The number of people attending services and participating in different community’s programs has recently grown,” Lazar said to Interfax-Religion.
According to him, “economic crisis puts a very high pressure upon us, nevertheless, the most important thing is that we do not suffer any spiritual crisis.”
“It is not unusual for Russia during its hard times that people become more aware of the importance of spiritual values, become more concerned about ethic which unites all of us, about their families, homes, and children, the Rabbi said.
