On Chof Sivan, Bais Rebbe Junior High of Los Angeles, California, held their graduation, marking the accomplishments achieved over the course of the year.
The evening began with an opening address by the students, followed by the Rebbe’s letter to the graduates of Bais Chaya Mushka of LA 5751.
Head Shliach Rabbi Boruch Shlomo Cunin addressed the students and encouraged each one of them to follow the teachings they so lovingly received in Bais Chaya Mushka and Bais Rebbe.
Rabbi Danny Yiftach, administrator and director of the school, acknowledged the girls achievements and thanked the dedicated teachers for educating each girl al pi Torah and Chassidus.
Mrs. Malka Seewald, Judaic principal of Bais Rebbe, spoke about how much each of the girls grew this past year. Included in her speech were stories she witnessed this past year.
“In honor of Chof Bais Shvat, Bais Rebbe held a Chitas Chidon,” she said. “The girls were required to study at home and learn baal peh the Chumash, Tanya, hayom yom and sefer hamitzvos over the course of two months. The girls knew the material so well- that after four hours of testing, we still could not find a final winner, and this was a problem we had never anticipated.
“What was truly amazing was the way the girls helped their fellow classmates understand the material; regardless of the fact that the chidon was a competition,” she said.
On a different occasion, she related, a few 8th grade students were overheard asking one of their teacher for a favor. They wanted to stay in for recess and learn during that time.
And on Lag Baomer, a younger student approached one of the 8th grade graduates complaining of thirst. In the heat of the day, after walking already over a mile, she did not hesitate to go across the park to bring back a cold cup of water to the grateful girl.
“These and countless more examples of learning, ahavas yisroel and chassidishkeit transpired over the course of the year,” explained Seewald.
Mirel Marosov, an 8th grade graduate who is on Shluchus in Valencia, Santa Clarita, travels up to three hours each day to come to school. She spoke about her shlichus and hiskashrus and exclaimed that as difficult as it might be to live so far away – she would never give up the privilege of being on shlichus. She quoted her great grandfather, Reb Chonye Marosov and spoke about his Mesiras nefesh in Siberia for Yiddishkeit.
Each girl received her long-awaited and hard-earned diploma and awards. The girls thanked their parents, teachers, friends, Bnos Chabad girls and of course their beloved school, for enabling them to reach this milestone in their lives.
Mrs. Lubin, a mother of one of the graduates, spoke on behalf of all the parents. She thanked the principals, teachers, and staff for ensuring that each student reach her potential.
Following the graduation was a beautiful reception prepared by the mothers of the class; Mrs. Lubin, Mrs. Elharrar, Mrs. Thaler and others.
May the girls continue to be a source of nachas to the Rebbe, their families, teachers and klal yisroel.
