“To be Kind is more important than to be right. Many times what people need is not a brilliant mind that speaks but a special heart that listens.”
– The Rebbe
Is there a special teacher in your life that you want to acknowledge? Someone who was there for you during a crucial time in your life? Or maybe a thoughtful classmate that is constantly offering a lending hand and kind word?
Following the success of last year’s initiative, the Yocheved Gourarie Kindness Blossoms Award, under the direction of The Meaningful Life Center, is once again proud to offer the Crown Heights community an opportunity to recognize and honor the often silent heroes among us – the incredible teachers and friends that genuinely care and go above and beyond their call of duty. We are humbled by these beautiful individuals and excited to showcase and bring awareness to their stories of goodness and kindness.
The YGKA team has been partnering with schools all around Crown Heights to bring this incredible initiative to light, encouraging the students to highlight and share their experiences of kindness and care. Mr. Avremi Gourarie, the father of Yocheved – whose life and legacy inspired this award – addressed many students, offering them motivating and life-changing words on the importance of kindness.
Please partner with us and encourage your children to get involved! With only several days left till the nomination’s closing date on May 17th/ 16th Iyar, we invite the Crown Heights community to nominate their teachers and classmates who’ve made life changing impact through acts of kindness, large and small. Nominate the teacher who cared, the friend that had your back. Acknowledge the love that was given to you. Share a story of a kindness that was extended to you. It will only take a moment of your time but the words and inspiration will live on forever.

“Our years in school are some of our most formative. Beyond what we learn, it is the people, friends and moments that matter most―when we are seen, accepted and loved for who we are.”
