The Jean Schottenstein Oryah Institute seminary is delighted to announce that its doors are once again open for applications!
At JSOI we are committed to nurturing the next generation of proud Chabad mothers, role models, and leaders.
Through our all encompassing program, students will discover an authentic way of connecting to Hashem, The Rebbe, and their shlichus in the world. They will explore their unique passions, ambitions, and talents in which they can share with others.
Our teachers are world class educators and exceptional role models that facilitate a warm and growth-oriented environment for our students to excel in. Our classes take place in smaller groups to ensure space for maximum student engagement. We delve into both Nigleh and Chassidus, including Tanach, Gemara, Pirkei Avos, Sichos, Mamorim, and Tanya. Lessons on the psychology of chassidus, Bayis Yeudi, and Chinuch are included as well. Chavrusa learning and peer classes, where students are encouraged to teach a class, allow for students to internalize what they are learning.
Our gorgeous and spacious facilities allow our students to feel comfortable throughout their experience. We serve delicious and nutritious food and have a fully stocked kitchen to make sure our students are cared for. The atmosphere of the dormitory is a warm and chassidish loving environment. Our Shluchos and dorm counselors dedicate their time & energy to create programs that make chassidishkeit feel relevant and alive.
Student expression is nurtured through art and chassidus class where students are given the space to express chassidus through different mediums of art. We also provide an entrepreneurial course led by professionals with the aim of helping our students gain the skills to actualize their aspirations.
Chessed is embedded into our program with the girls giving back to those in need in Eretz Yisroel on a weekly basis through visits to individual families, hospitals, children at risk and soup kitchens.
“As a teacher at Oryah, I literally feel privileged to walk into the classroom and share the platform with my students. The girls are delightful, have wonderful energy, are eager to learn, and are happy to have passionate conversations about Hashem and The Inner Dimensions of Torah. I am blessed to be a part of their lives.”
– Mrs. Hindel Swerdlov, teacher.
“I knew Oryah was the place for me because of the basic values this Institute is based upon: Personalized, foundational, and experience-based growth. The staff and teachers at Oryah truly care about your success. If you do not resonate with a certain course, they will work with you to find another option. If you think of a class or trip that would be enriching, they will happily find ways to make it happen. The growth you find at Oryah will stay with you forever, because it is rooted in your decision to improve. You are given all that you could possibly need in Oryah, and it is in your hands whether you choose to utilize those precious tools. Oryah is always looking to expand learning beyond the classroom setting, taking us on weekly טיולים which I feel privileged to experience. Oryah is all about your growth, and working together as a family to help each other reach that.”
–Sarale Goldbereger, student.
For anyone who’s looking for a sem experience. I think oryah is a great balance of everything, if you’re looking for a chassidish experience with amazing learning oryah really provides it. Along with amazing trips once a week. Oryah really gives you a chance to experience every aspect of Israel. The trips give us a chance to see Israel for it’s amazing jewish history. And it gives you an amazing balance of freedom and living in a chassidish environment.
